Cruising for Comets

I know many of you will wish Chris Boutle thanks for all his efforts to organise the cruises over many past years, trips to Falmouth, Keyhaven, Ullswater, Broads, to name just a few, the weather made some outstanding, some unforgettable but all well planned and welcoming to old hands and new, I’m finding out just how difficult the operation is, he’s a tough act to follow.

A calendar of events for 2009 is evolving as you read, Communications with several clubs in prime locations along the south coast is taking place, I’m hopeful of a weekend from Netley SC, in the spring, just awaiting confirmation, unfortunately the hoped for cruise out of Castle Cove in Portland is not a go’er so I’ve still to fill that spot.
My thoughts are, that with the Whit-weekend taken with the inlands at my home club, Cotswold Sc,a longer 3 day event is hard to fit in, so I will try to do 2 or 3 2day weekends, outside of the holiday period but if I get enough interest for a longer break, I’ll organise for something for the summer holidays a little further away, possibly Dale, Falmouth, etc.
Could those of you that are possible cruisers please E-mail me, I’ll make up a group so that any news or opportunities that arise can be passed on ASAP and let me know if you prefer inland to coastal, Estuaries will always be favoured, but the Solent gives good opportunities for more open water adventure, E-mail:- bobannp@fsmail.net.
Keep watch on the website and newsletter for forthcoming events.
